Had a great weekend in the capital. I met my father and sister in a Turkish restaurant. Had the best salad I've tasted. Later on I met my friend Gareth and we went to the museum. Oddly enough Gareth, my sister and I all have a grandparent from Lossiemouth in North East Scotland.

At any rate, we had a great time together joking about a Scottish inferiority complex and how Neil Oliver would probably have spent his student years brooding over perceived slights by English students when staring into a peat fire and drinking Scotch. And this from two fans of Salmond. I often wonder if this is one of the biggest distinguishing features of Scottish identity: our ability to be simultaneously patriotic and laugh at ourselves?

Anyway, added a photo from Highlands; only in Scotland can grey be beautiful.
